The Research Center of the University of San Jose-Recoletos is an academic service unit under the Office of the Vice President for Academics. As a research center, it is guided by the following : Vision To be a leading center of research not only in Cebu, but also in the region. Mission To conduct and direct the research activities towards improving the quality of life in our society. Goals : - To design and implement research training programs and activities for faculty members to increase their research commitment, thereby providing them with opportunities for personal, intellectual and professional growth:
- To devise schemes in establishing consortia/linkages with other research institutes and centers, locally and internationally;
- To hone further the research capabilities of the Research Center Staff and faculty; and
- To disseminate and publish in journals research outputs for both internal and external users.
FUNCTIONS OF THE RESEARCH CENTER - Administers the University's faculty research program;
- Serves as a clearinghouse of research-related information and disseminates salient findings of completed researches;
- Recommends financial support and other incentives following established research guidelines.
- Implements the deloading policies of faculty researchers in collaboration with the respective Colleges/Departments once endorsement from the Office of the VP-Academics is approved by the President;
- Monitors research project implementation to ensure an efficient and effective performance;
- Provides research project development and implementation assistance such as referrals for consultants on specific fields of discipline, procurement of permits for use of school facilities, and for appropriate technical support needed in conducting research.
- Conducts research writing seminars, training programs, and workshops to encourages faculty to engage in research and generate research awareness and interest among the academic ranks of the university;
- Publishes research outputs in annual publication of the USJ-R Faculty Research Journal;
- Links with other universities, research centers and organizations;
- Facilitates obtaining funds for Materials Development Research; and
- Prepares Memoranda of Agreement [MOA] for approved research grants.
